MOSTAR - "the capital" of Herzegovina, is its administrative and cultural centre founded around the end of the 15th century, in the dawn of the Turkish rule. It's most famous for the Old City and Old Bridge, which in 2005 became a part of the Cultural Heritage of the UNESCOO. The city is characterized by the meeting and the coexistence of four major religions present in the area-Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Islamic and Jewish. Mostar is a unique city where historically and culturally the East and West have met, a feature that remains visible until today. Another prominent feature of the city is the beautiful blue-green Neretva river, which runs through the city center. It is unique for its visual attractiveness as well as for the richness and diversity of its ecosystems. One always leaves this city promising to return, charmed by its beauty, originality and complexity.

BLAGAJ ancient seat of Herzegovinian rulers, - this medieval town is situated only 12km from Mostar. From the fortress of Herzeg Stjepan (lord of these lands before the Ottomans' arrival in 1465), situated above the natural karstic spring of Buna river, you can admire a stunning panorama that stretches over the wide valley of the Neretva. On the right bank of the river Buna soars the 16th century Tekija, Dervish Monastery suspended between the water and the rocks, for centuries a place of meditation and prayer.

ŽITOMISLIĆ - about 20 km from Mostar, is a little village situated on the left side of the Neretva river, along the road that connects Mostar to Place. Here is the most important Herzegovina Orthodox monastery, constructed at the end of the 16th century.

POČITELJ - frontier between East and West, called the "City of Stone" by the Nobel prize winner Ivo Andrić, Počitelj is a splendid Ottoman city dating back to the Middle Ages. It is situated about 30 km from Mostar.

KRAVICE - waterfalls, natural phenomenon, about 40km from Mostar, is a perfect spot for all those who wish to rest and enjoy the beautiful and clean natural surrounding, accompanied by the relaxing sound of waterfalls in the background.

MEĐUGORJE Catholic sanctuary, 27 km from Mostar has become one of the most popular destinations for pilgrimage in the Catholic world since 24th June 1981, when a group of teenagers witnessed the appa¬rition of the Virgin Mary. The miracle of Mary of Medjugorje has radically transformed this small town into a "global city", constantly visited by Catholics arriving from all over the world.

Mostar- city of 7 bridges

The Nobel prize winner for Literature Iva Andric once said: "In everything that man pushes by his vital instinct, builds and raises, nothing is more beautiful or more precious than bridges. Bridges are more important than houses, more sacred because they are more useful than temples. They belong to everybody and they are the same for everybody."
